Stairway to Heaven goes from Eco Park to Pico do Areeiro).

We begin the hike in the beautiful Funchal Ecological Park, a peaceful area with varied landscapes and lush vegetation that showcases Madeira’s natural beauty. As soon as you set foot on the PR3 Vereda do Burro trail, you’ll be treated to a tranquil setting and fresh mountain air—the perfect start to your hike.

We then take a short detour to visit Poço da Neve, a historic ice-storage site with panoramic views over Funchal’s harbour area, offering a unique and breathtaking perspective of Madeira’s capital and the Atlantic Ocean beyond. This spot offers an excellent opportunity to take in the island’s dramatic scenery.
Further along, we reach the imposing Pico do Areeiro, Madeira’s third-highest mountain at 1,818 metres. Get ready for an exciting trek to the breathtaking Miradouro do Ninho da Manta, a viewpoint that reveals the rugged beauty of Madeira’s mountainous landscape.
