In the Austrian period (1713 - 1795), bluestone boundary posts were placed on the Overslag, in order to solve a quarrel between the Axel and Asseneder crafts (1722). The border posts are true works of art and show a medallion on both sides with the coat of arms of the country in question. For Austria, this consists of a double-headed eagle that looks to either side with its beak wide open. Underneath is the inscription Oostenryk. On the Dutch side, a standing and crowned lion is depicted with a crooked sword in one claw, symbol of righteousness, and in the other claw 7 arrows, symbol of the seven United Provinces. Underneath it is the inscription Her High. This refers to the States General.
