Café and hall De Ster

Café with a hall named "De Ster", mentioned in 1819 as an inn and tavern "de sterre" in the village, possibly going back to an older inn of the same name (see the mention "inde sterre" from 1638 and marked on a map from 1765 by B. Peelman). Village tavern characterized by its low and wide building volume, possibly dating back to the early 19th century but with many younger modifications. Front facade in anchored brick construction defined by a stepped cornice. Rectangular wall openings with wooden lintels, windows on a hardstone base (three narrower windows to the right). Door with posts made of sintered brick and a traced transom light. Renewed tiled roof with added dormers, renovated interior. National Archive of Ghent, Fonds de Kerchove d’Exaerde, 102.
