A stroll through this flat land behind the IJzer leads us to the remnants of great rural manors, many of which once stood in this region. Alveringem has a connection to the Flemish struggle for liberation through chaplain Cyriel Verschaeve. The First World War is also never far away here. We will get acquainted with a remarkable brewery museum and a dominant land cathedral. The name refers to the saint who baptized this region in the 7th century. The walk is 7 km long and begins in Sint-Rijkersstraat.
