The Spessart meadows have been a nature reserve since 2001 in the Bavarian Spessart in the area of the river Lohr and its tributaries.
The western Spessart meadows are located in the Lohrbach valley between Heinrichsthal and Heigenbrücken in the district of Aschaffenburg. Individual areas in the Bächlesgrund are also under protection. The lower Lohrbach valley and the Kalte Grund in the Main-Spessart district form the southern part of the nature reserve. Almost the entire valley of the Aubach as well as the Birklergrund are included in the area. The eastern Spessart meadows are located in the valley of the Lohr around Frammersbach.
