Schwarzenburg

Schwarzenburg is a district of the municipality of Heideblick in the Brandenburg district of Dahme-Spreewald.
Schwarzenburg was first mentioned in documents in 1615 as a wasteland field located next to the Rochische Heyde at the black mountain. The name referred to a settlement at the Black Mountain, with -berg evolving into -burg over time. In 1554, there is a note indicating that the place must have been uninhabited for a long time. Other variants included Vorwerk Schwartzburg in 1730 and Schwarzenburg in 1733. In 1823, the terms Schwarzenburg, Schwarzenberg, or the black sheep farm were used. Schwarzenburg was a Kursächsisches Vorwerk of the office of Schlieben, where sheep farming was practiced. In common parlance, the place name was explained as only black sheep being bred in Schwarzenburg and only white sheep in Weißenburg. The locality was part of the parish of Proßmarke. Later, the estate came into private ownership until it was purchased by the treasury, which established a forestry office. In 1830, Schwarzenburg received its own school from King Friedrich Wilhelm III, located in the building of an old tin spoon factory. A prayer room was also established in this building, where the teacher had to hold a prayer hour every two weeks. Additionally, baptisms and funerals were held in this room, for which the pastor from Proßmarke performed the sacristan duties. In 1906, a new school building with a prayer room was constructed on the same site, which was used as a school until 1972. In 1912, Schwarzenburg had about 166 inhabitants. From 1816 to 1952, Schwarzenburg belonged to the Prussian district of Schweinitz.
