Digital cycle route Steinberg - Sternberg

The main attractions are Wendlinghausen Castle, Sternberg Castle, and Steinberg with its unique view. But the Forellenhof with homemade cake on weekends is also recommended here. It's a paradise for children. The route passes by the following interesting points:

Hofladen Schweinerei
The Ehlert family farm shop offers delicious products from pigs, soft ice cream, coffee specialties, regional products, a children's playground, benches to relax, and pet chickens.

Wendlinghausen Castle
Wendlinghausen Castle & Estate, with its unique architecture, is one of the most magnificent buildings of the Weser Renaissance from the early 17th century. The estate enchants with its distinctive charm at castle festivals, weddings, and conferences.

Sternberg Castle
Sternberg Castle was built around 1240 by the Counts of Schwalenberg and first mentioned in a document in 1252. In the early 15th century, the castle and county of Sternberg passed to the nobles of Lippe. From the 18th century, it developed into the administrative center of the surrounding communities. Since 1948, Sternberg Castle has belonged to the Lippe Regional Association. In the 20th century, it was significantly influenced by the musical instrument maker Peter Harlan. Due to its unique location and historical ambience, it is a preferred venue for cultural and festive events.

Steinberg
Steinberg was used as a missile and radar station from 1963 to 1992. In 1998, the NABU Lippe began to renaturize the 10-hectare area. A building was converted into a bat shelter. The area now houses many rare animal and plant species, such as the tree pipit, smooth snake, and three-fingered saxifrage. From a viewpoint at 396 meters height, you have a panoramic view with views of the Teutoburg Forest and the Hermann Monument, as well as the Weser Mountains and Kaiser Wilhelm Monument. Stallscheune Schwelentrup with playground and rest area
The barn was built in 1694 in Barntrup-Wierborn, dismantled by the Detmold Open-Air Museum in 1972, and rebuilt in Schwelentrup from 2003 to 2006. The rustic playground and rest area in the Kurpark Schwelentrup next to the barn, designed with logs, boulders, rocks, and hills, invites you to a cozy picnic in nature.
