Starting point of this short hike is the Old Court in Fürstenberg. The adjacent castle is still inhabited by the Graf von Westphalen family today. The estate and the Forestry Office Graf von Westphalen manage the forest through which the Karpke Path leads at this point. The lovely ponds on the Karpke in the Fürstenberger Wald provide habitat for numerous bird species. Enjoy the flora and fauna from the observation platform. The place name "under the old ponds" points to a long tradition of pond management to supply Fürstenberg with carp.
