Granfondo La Fausto Coppi

La Fausto Coppi is one of the great granfondos in Italy. The route runs through the Cottian Alps in the province of Piedmont. It is a lesser-known cycling area with quiet roads and deserted mountain villages. The ride, starting and finishing in Cuneo, is 175 km long and has 4200 meters of elevation gain, spread over four passes. After a flat approach of about 40 kilometers, you reach the foot of the Santuario di Valmala. This is a steep slope of 10 km with sections up to 14%. Next comes the Piatta Soprana, another typically Italian climb with equally steep passages. But with the third pass, the gigantic Colle delle Fauniera, the real work awaits. This one is 30 kilometers long from Valgrana and is one of the toughest passes in Italy. Especially the last 15 kilometers are very difficult, averaging a gradient of 9.3%. After the long, technical descent to Demonte, there is still the challenging Madonna del Colletto as the final climb. Finally, it's another 20 km of resting to Cuneo.
