Probably the name "Our Lady of the Alder Branch" comes from the alder tree under which the chapel stands.
This chapel was consecrated by Pastor Verbunt in May 1935.
The initiative to establish this chapel came from the Catholic Youth Association. The local community raised the financial resources.
The stones for the construction of the chapel were transported by tram from Belgium to the former tram station at the Kruispad. From there, they were brought to Tiggelt.
The land was donated by the widow Roovers. The original statue has been replaced by the statue that now stands there. This statue was donated by Mrs. C. Maas-Roovers.
