Claudia de Breij, the Dutch comedian, presenter, singer and radio DJ, studied here at the Koningin Wilhelmina College. She wrote the famous song Mag ik dan bij jou in 2009. The lyrics are by De Breij, the music by Rogier Wagenaar and Sander Geboers. Since 2009 it has slowly but surely become a well-known song. In 2014 it had a high ranking (19) in the Top 2000 of Radio 2, and in 2015 it had a ranking as number 4. Central to the text is someone who is looking for security with someone she trusts in times of war, unrest and uncertainty. The Paris attacks of November 2015 certainly influenced the popularity of the song, but the European refugee crisis was also a reason that many people found the lyrics extra poignant.
