The Reindeer Farm

This former monastery was occupied in 1903 by French Trappist nuns. They named the house Notre Dame du Perpetual Secours (Our Lady of Perpetual Help). In 1912, the sisters left for France again. During World War I, novices from the Fathers of the Holy Hearts, who fled from Belgium, lived there. Afterwards, the building came into the hands of manufacturer Van den Bergh, who named it De Rendierhoeve. Perhaps because the labels on the advertising materials for his AaBe blankets featured reindeer.
