Aardenburg is the oldest town in Zeeland, and you can see it everywhere. In Aardenburg, you are surrounded by the past. The Kaaipoort dates back to the time when Aardenburg was still a thriving trading city. As you walk through the streets, you can also see all sorts of beautiful old facades. The Sint-Baafskerk, built in 959, is the oldest building in the city.
The border town of Eede gained national prominence because Queen Wilhelmina (the great-grandmother of King Willem-Alexander) first stepped onto Dutch soil here on March 13, 1945, after five years in exile.
