Walking route Brabantse Biesbosch over the Jantjes- and Deeneplaat

Discover the Biesbosch with this extensive walking route through the heart of the national park, from the Jantjesplaat to the Deenepolder.

The Biesbosch, located between the rivers Nieuwe Merwede and Beneden-Merwede, has been a National Park since 1905. It is the largest freshwater tidal area in Europe, which means you can find many willow flood forests and creeks there.

The area southwest of the Spieringsluis was redeveloped a few years ago, with the construction of walking paths in the former polders Jantjesplaat and Hooge Hof. However, there was a lack of a connection to the walking paths on the Deeneplaat, until 2015. It is now possible to connect all three islands with walking bridges during a 14 km long walk.

The route takes you past beautiful waters, over picturesque bridges, and through lovely forests with a great variety of plants. Along the way, there is plenty to see in terms of (water)birds, frogs, and livestock, which makes the walk very varied and absolutely recommended!
