Bird migration VWL through Geulhem and Houthem

A beautiful but not flat circular hike through a very diverse and bird-rich area. In the first part, a metal staircase (with railings) with 84 steps must be climbed. The return path to the Geuldal is flat.

Start and End Point is the parking lot opposite the "Brasserie de Brakke Berg" in Geulhem.
The hike starts from the parking lot to the left and continues a bit further left through a swing gate.
Then cross the meadow diagonally left and go very close to the Geul to the left through a revolving gate.
After that, the route continues in a western direction using the RouteYou map (or after downloading it to your smartphone).
The path runs at the highest point above the Curfsgroeve. This is an old marl quarry that has now been transformed into an interesting nature reserve. Through the forest of De Dellen, the path descends into the Geuldal.
The Geul is then followed as far as possible (upstream). The hike ends at "De Brakke Berg" through the old core of Houthem - St. Gerlach and the St. Gerlach estate, through a piece of the Ingendael nature reserve.
