The Two Field Battles road bike route is a variant for road cyclists of the Two Field Battles route. The route takes you past two historical battles. The first one is the Battle of the Golden Spurs, where the French suffered a beating from the Flemish, and the second is the Battle of Westrozebeke, where the opposite happened (at least for the people of Ghent). We find ourselves in the 14th century. In the second battle, the French took strong revenge for that first defeat. Thus, the gathered "golden spurs" disappeared to Paris and the belfry clock, the Jacquemart, went to Dijon. Centuries later, this area would witness another human massacre, but this time in WWI.
