Descripción por el autor

Walk through the Ourthe valley, on a railway bridge, along railway line 43, through forests and meadows, ruins and many steep rocks.

The walk starts in Sy, a small village with a train station that is only accessible by one access road. At the bottom of the banks of the Ourthe, a spacious car park awaits you.

The walk almost immediately passes over a railway bridge to reach the other side of the Ourthe. The promenade winds along the banks of the Ourthe for several kilometers with views of steep rocks and pretty rapids. At one point, we walk between the Ourthe and railway line 43. The path slowly passes from a wide paved path to a narrower dirt road. We walk along the meadows and after more than 4 kilometers we cross the Ourthe.

After crossing the Ourthe, we walk 300 meters along a slightly busier road, then cross to a wooded area. We will climb to see a nice game with possibility of pic-at the point of 5.6km. The walk continues along meadows and through forests.

When we return to civilization, the next goal is a climb to the castle of Logne. Here it is pleasant to walk around before starting the descent again. After the descent there is a nice walk on a rope bridge to cross a small stream. Immediately after, a steep hike crisscrossing an environment where a mountain goat would feel perfectly at home. At the top is a beautiful viewpoint with bench.

We continue the walk at altitude through a wooded area. A few more small climbs and then we will start the descent. The descent passes through forests, meadows but also meadows where we find ourselves face to face with some cows. We pass in front of a cross that seems rather gloomy in the middle of the forest. The parish priest's cross was created following the death of Everard Deleau, parish priest of Xhignesse, who was welcomed and murdered by the Renard brothers on October 16, 1778.

We descend further through forests and meadows and finally we walk again along the Ourthe. Here are several high rocks with many climbing routes. A little later we pass under a railway bridge in Sy and we are almost back at the parking lot. For train watchers, the bridge is always worth a visit, it has a pedestrian zone on both sides.
