Walk starting and ending at the Provincial Domain De Gavers in Schendelbeke/Geraardsbergen. The walk runs through Karkool and Raspaillebos: these are remnants of an old forest that once stretched uninterrupted to the Sonian Forest. Karkool and Raspaillebos are located along the slopes of the Flemish Ardennes, with the highest point being the Bosberg (formerly the last hill of the Tour of Flanders route). The walk then descends again to the Dender Valley and runs around the ponds of the Provincial Domain. These ponds were created in the 1970s due to sand extraction that was used for raising the low-lying grounds of the industrial area in Schendelbeke. A peaceful walk mostly over car-free or low-traffic roads and paths.
