The Bumannsburg, also known as Bummannsburg, is the remains of an early fortified castle on the southern side of the Lippe side of the Bergkamen district of Rünthe in North Rhine-Westphalia, which dates back to around 800. It is not mentioned in any source. Excavations took place in 1898 and 1978. According to a pollen study in 2006, the vegetation development of the 1st millennium in the vicinity of Bumannsburg reveals three phases, namely an imperial period with first more Roman, then Rhine-Weser-Germanic land use, then reforestation after 300, and finally the early medieval expansion of the country from 700 AD.
