Ellenserdammer Deep

The Tief is formed by the confluence of the Friedeburger Tief and the Neustädter Tief, about 2.7 km southeast of Neustadtgödens. It initially flows in a southeast direction, passing under the A 29, the L 815, the railway line Oldenburg–Wilhelmshaven, and at Ellenserdammersiel the Grodenstraße. After that, the Tief takes on a winding eastern course, which was created between 1993 and 2001 through the extraction of clay. The resulting gravel pits have been part of the landscape protection area "Marschen am Jadebusen–West" since 2011. Since February 2019, the Ellenserdammer Tief and the gravel pits are located in the landscape protection area "Teichfledermausgewässer," which was designated to secure the FFH area "Teichfledermaus habitats in the Wilhelmshaven area."
