Jade Innovation Center

The Jade Innovation Center is located in the North Sea city of Wilhelmshaven in the federal state of Lower Saxony. The JIZ serves as a regional hub for networking between science and industry and as an initiator for startups and company settlements.

The Jade Innovation Center is situated on Emsstraße in the southern part of Wilhelmshaven. It was opened in early 2006 under the name Biotechnology Center, with a primary focus at that time on biotechnological companies and content. In 2010, the spectrum was expanded to include "Bio and/or Technology," and it was renamed to its current name. Until its merger with WFG Economic Development in Wilhelmshaven GmbH in 2014, the JIZ was managed by Biosphere AG. Since 2011, in addition to companies, scientific working groups from Carl von Ossietzky University Oldenburg have been based in the center.
