The climb to the village of Herhahn from Gemünd can be done via the busy B266. However, there are two beautiful alternatives along farm roads (roads closed to motor traffic except for local traffic and agricultural vehicles), avoiding the busy federal road.
1) The first alternative is the Alter Römerweg in Gemünd (steep at the beginning, up to 12%) followed by the road Am Lieberg, and then the Haselnußweg.
2) The second alternative is to follow the road Hohenfried from Gemünd.
Additionally, there is also the possibility to climb to Herhahn from the southeast side, from the village of Scheuren, via the Höddelbach Valley.
