The Heimatspur Waterfall Adventure Route can call itself the most beautiful day hike in Germany in 2023. On this 13.3-kilometer hiking trail you will get to know one of the most beautiful areas of the Vulkaneifel. According to the jury's report, this route contains pretty much everything that makes the Vulkaneifel so special: dense hilly forests, narrow winding paths, metre-high rocks and panoramic views of the lower stream valleys. There is a lot to see!

You start this waterfall adventure route in the middle of Bad Bertrich, a dreamy spa town in the Üssbachtal (about 30 kilometers southwest of Cochem). From here you immediately climb the steep mountain slopes to the Hohenzollern Tower, a viewpoint with beautiful views of Bad Bertrich and the surrounding hills. Then you descend back down into the valley via narrow forest paths. Here you can expect what according to the hiking magazine is the highlight of the route: the Klidinger waterfall. Admittedly, this waterfall is not the highest in Germany at 28 meters, but with its almost magical location deep in the forest, it is certainly one of the most beautiful. Through various rock formations and a volcanic water source, you will finally hike back to the starting point. In total, you will overcome about 500 meters in altitude on this adventure route, so that this hike offers enough challenge even for advanced hikers.
