Bike tour: Lots of greenery and a former open-cast mine

The Lusatia region is known for decades of lignite mining. Deep holes are dug into the landscape, some of which already offer attractive leisure opportunities in, on and by the water today. From Cottbus, you can embark on a "green" cycling tour. After the main train station, the nearby Sachsendorfer meadows and the local bathing lake are the first green oases. Cycle through extensive forests to reach your next destination. The church in Illmersdorf holds many dark secrets: Brandenburg's largest mummy treasure. After about 5 km, you will reach the Gräbendorfer Lake, which emerged from the former open-cast mine after flooding until 2007. Activities on, by or in the water and stops directly by the lake are possible. The return tour leads through the village of Wüstenhain, Koselmühle, Glinzig, and Kolkwitz back to Cottbus.
