Even Wilhelm Busch couldn't resist this charm, visiting Hunteburg several times between 1894 and 1898. He liked it so much that during his first visit, he wrote to a friend: "It was a very pleasant area where I spent the last few days, especially with the beautiful weather. Isolated farms; whitewashed; fresh green rye fields around them; in the distance, a chain of blue hills..." Bohmte in the Osnabrück region offers a peaceful and relaxing landscape, ideal for hiking, cycling, unwinding, and enjoying. Around Hunteburg, you can expect a flat, easy-to-ride route of 20 km through marsh and moorland. Stops along the way include Restaurant Trentmann, Hotel-Restaurant Knostmann, and Pizzeria Uno on the main street. Highlights of the route include the historic "Roman Bridge," the Meyerhöfen War Cemetery, the Holy Trinity Church from 1666 with its ancient art treasures, and St. Matthew's Church with its altar-pulpit group in the neoclassical style. Additional offerings include a barbecue area with shelter on the leisure meadow by the Roman Bridge, canoe launch point on the River Hunte, Hunteburger circular hiking trails, Hunteburg - Schäferhof hiking trail, Osnabrück - Bremen Bridge Cycle Path, guided village tours, themed cycling routes, garden tours, and the Hunteburger Pony Market on the 2nd weekend of October.
