Among the many heads, a small workshop , once colorful outside and inside, makes way for itself. Inside there are drawings by Sciacca from the sea and in particular there is a large fish which, according to one interpretation, represents his journey to America: the large fish is the ship, the small fish the men carried by the ship. Filippo Bentivegna was an all-round artist, the sculptures are the most important works, but he also worked with ceramics, he sculpted wood, he painted and it is reductive to say that he only sculpted heads.
In '68 Jean Dubuffet collected special works in prisons and asylums in various parts of the world. A Roman lawyer, a friend of Dubuffet, Gabriele Stocchi, happened to pass by Sciacca, discovered this place, took photos and sent them to Dubuffet who commissioned him to buy some of these sculptures . After Filippo's death, the estate was managed by his family and it was probably they who sold some of the works. These works are still exhibited today at the Collection de l'Art Brut in Lausanne.
Dubuffet considered Bentivegna's works to be the best in his collection.
