PR2 Lamego (Samodães) Port Wine Route

This is the starting point of the PR2 Lamego (Samodães) Port Wine Route walk (The most beautiful route in the Douro).

A circular walk in the Alto Douro wine region where you can enjoy the fantastic experience of walking on the ancient terraces. This region is full of (good) walking routes, but almost none are better than this Port Wine Trail, in the municipality of Lamego.

The Douro Valley, with its photogenic and world-famous terraces , is not only a masterpiece of nature, but also the fruit of the effort and energy that man has put into its transformation.

The landscapes are truly breathtaking and it has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 2001.

The terraces that cover the landscape are a feast for the eyes , walking on them is a true balm for the soul. And the Port Wine Trail offers that experience perfectly.

Over a length of eight kilometres, you will walk through an authentic film and postcard landscape with rural and agricultural paths, embroidered by the walls of farmhouses and their famous vineyards, and walk along the exciting banks of the Douro River. The views over the terraces and the Douro Valley are truly breathtaking, whatever the season.

The Port Wine Trail starts in the village of Samodães, in the municipality of Lamego, at the top of the parish church . It is a very beautiful church with a great view over the Douro Valley. From the church, the Port Wine Trail runs through the cobbled streets of the village, which on rainy days are very slippery (very slippery). But if you take it easy and pay extra attention, you can do it all.
