Iglesia Santiago Apostol - Puertito de Güímar - Tenerife

In 1949, a statue of Santiago Apóstol was acquired, as patron of the fishing brotherhood of the same name that existed in El Puertito de Güíma

The statue was blessed in the Church of San Pedro Apóstol by the parish priest-archpriest of Güímar, Don Matías Batista Díaz, and then carried in procession to El Puertito . On the 25th of the same month the first festival was celebrated , which was held both that year and in subsequent years in a place prepared for this purpose

In July 1952, the statue of the Virgin of Carmen was blessed by the same priest.

The chapel was built on land donated by the doctor Don Radamés Polegre Socas and his wife, Doña Ángeles García Fumero and was blessed in 1953 by the parish priest-archpriest of Güímar, Don Matías Batista Díaz.
