Lake forests: Since the 18th century, the proportion of forest has decreased in favor of agricultural land. The forest consists of mixed and non-mixed plots. In some forest areas, old drainage channels are still clearly visible and should be preserved. The few buildings consist of small houses (sometimes called "Boskanter houses") and some farms. They are widely scattered at the edge of the forest (more in the western part) or along the paths.
The sites of the castle and the old village of Zorgvliet are important elements in this landscape.
Since 2020 there is also a tree camp ( sleeping in a tree house in Lakebossen - Boomkamp ) in the woods of the lake.
You will find Boomkamp between the trees of Lakebossen in Ruddervoorde from June to September 2022. Again this year you have the opportunity to spend the night in a tree house or a tent. Both are scattered in the forest. So you can look at a castle - still inhabited (!) - but also lie on the lake shore. you decide
