The last German uprising was in December 1944, when the Allies had advanced into the Belgian Ardennes and were completely surprised by three German armies. This marked the beginning of the Ardennes Offensive or the 'Battle of the Bulge.' It was a final desperate attempt by the German Wehrmacht to break through the Allied lines. The fighting lasted more than six weeks and cost many lives on both sides.
