The walk goes on paved roads 'cycling and walking through the water' in Bokrijk and comes back to the petting zoo of Kiewit with all kinds of animals and a small children's playground.

Itinerary:

You leave the car park and you turn right, after the chapel with the inscription 'V.K.S.J' you turn RA and at the end ra again.

Attention: cross 'Kiewitstraat' (zebra crossing) and follow RD 'Grootboomstraat' to the end. LA 'Nieuwe-Heidestraat' to past the 3 red posts on the road.

In 'Genk' you immediately take the oblique road on the right, until the end and then you hit LA.

With some luck you will see here, on the last ponds left or right, a heron or cormorant!

Attention: from now on you walk on the cycle route network. There is no law requiring pedestrians to walk right on the road unless there is a circular blue road sign with an image of a bicycle, vertical line in the middle and a person.

It is safer to walk, one after the other, to the left of the road so that you see cyclists coming.

The passage through the water has recently become one-way, due to the crowds on certain days. Circumference = 650 meters !

Normally you see here, in addition to various species of ducks and other water birds, a pair of white swans, with young after spring, which have brown / gray feathers, until the summer.

At the end LA, after the pond there is small info point with nice view over the water.

Continue the road and back past the 3 red posts turn RA (concrete lane) towards 'Hasselt'.

Follow and at the end pay attention again: cross 'Kiewitstraat' and RD.

With some luck you will see dozens of black Galloway cattle on the right in the large meadow or in the forest. On the left you may see a white horse and 6 donkeys in the meadow.

Turn LA, towards the buildings of the 'petting zoo'. Along the way there are different animal species: rabbits, sheep, goats, etc and 2 pigs (behind the bee hall).

Even if the catering industry 'Koe-vert' is closed due to corona, there are free toilets here.

Past the playground and the visitor center of natuurpunt, turn LA back towards the parking lot.
