Rainbow Water Hike Morgins

The educational trail "Morgins, the colors of water" will show you all the colors! A beautiful loop in the Vallon de They to Lac Vert and the Col des Portes du Soleil.

If you go to the springs of the Vièze, you will see water:
– Red at the source of iron water
– Blue on the edge of the Vièze
– Yellow on the yellow fountain
– White on the white fountain
– Green by the green lake

Morgins, les Couleurs de l'Eau' is a fascinating educational trail with nine informative panels located in the valley of They between Morgins and the Portes du Soleil pass.

The trailhead is at the entrance of the Vallon de They, just behind the Morgins Ranch.

The route offers nine interpretive panels along the route through the They Valley, between Morgins and the Col des Portes du Soleil.

If you go upstream to the source of the Vièze, you will see that the water changes color; alternating red, blue, yellow, white and green! The panels provide geological, hydrological and hydrogeological explanations of why the colors change so noticeably, how water and minerals interact, how water can suddenly disappear or appear out of nowhere, and why these mountains are so unique.

Keep your eyes peeled for:
- Red at the Eau Rouge spring
- Blue on the edge of the river Vièze
- Yellow at the Fontaines Jaunes
- White at the Fontaines Blanches
- Green at Lac Vert

Along the way you will find alpine restaurants - the Chésery hut on Lac Vert or the Tovassière and They 'Cantines' in the They Valley.
