The remains of the hill fort Torstein, also known by its older spelling Thorstein, is a former spur castle located on a mountain spur near Bad Tabarz in the district of Gotha in the Thuringian Forest.
The site of the spur castle rises on a small rock spur of the Kleine Wagenberg, at an elevation of 566 m above sea level, about 80 m above the Lauchagrund. It is situated approximately 3 km southwest of Tabarz. Right next to the castle runs a medieval trade route ascending to the Grenzwiese - Kleiner Inselsberg, which is today's L 1024. Along this road were also the castles Stolzenburg and Leuchtenburg, located only about 1 km away.
