Especially in spring or autumn, the mountain range with its diverse coniferous and deciduous forests, wild plants, and animals offers very impressive motifs. The Wiehengebirge has been part of the "Northern Teutoburg Forest / Wiehengebirge" TERRA VITA Nature Park since 1962. Since 2015, the Wiehengebirge has been awarded the UNESCO designation: "Unesco-Global Geopark".
