The Ottensgrund Path connects the two districts Haaren and Helmern. The landmark of Helmern is the over 300 years old "Old Linden Tree". Under the crown, a wayside shrine was erected in 1961, which is intended to commemorate St. Sturmius. He brought Christianity to the area. The circular route, mostly through field landscapes, offers wide views of the Sintfeld. You will walk a long way on the Via Regia - an old royal road from the Middle Ages. Another testimony from the past is the gallows site. Executions took place at the "place of execution of the Sintfeld" until 1786.
