Most of the hiking trail runs on well-developed forest and field paths. The ascent shortly after the beginning from Hambergweg up to Heinemannshöhe, however, is unpaved and poses a great challenge that can only be mastered in stable dry weather. After rainfall and generally in the wet-cold season, the path is almost impassable and should only be tackled by fit experienced nature conquerors. In terms of content, the circular hiking trail offers the instructive contrast of deciduous and coniferous forest, information boards of the temporarily parallel running geopark path Salzgitter-Bad, and an impressive view of the former Finkenkuhle open-cast mine flooded with water.
