Especially in spring or autumn, the mountain range with its diverse coniferous and deciduous forests, wild plants, and animals offers very picturesque motifs. The Wiehen Hills have been part of the "Northern Teutoburg Forest / Wiehen Hills" TERRA VITA Nature Park since 1962. Since 2015, the Wiehen Hills have been awarded the "UNESCO Global Geopark" designation by UNESCO.
