This sturdy bike ride of 84 km starts at Wahner Straße in Sögel, in the gentle hilly landscape of the Hümmling in Emsland. Soon you will pass St. Jakobus, the Heimathof, and the historic Ludmillenhof, where local history becomes tangible. Via Stavern, you enter a landscape full of megalithic mysteries: burial mounds like the Großsteingrab and the "Straße der Megalithkultur" give this stage a prehistoric touch.

Further along, you cycle towards Meppen, the "green city by the water," where rivers like the Hase and the Eems, old railways, the station, and the Stadtmuseum/Arenbergische Rentei tell the urban story. You pass the Borkener Paradies, a protected nature reserve with forest pastures and an old arm of the Eems, and proceed to Hüntel with its Funpark and the spectacularly painted cooling tower featuring a world map. Following that is the border-close Haren with the Haren-Ruitenbroekkanaal, the impressive St. Martinus Church, and villages like Niederlangen and Lathen with its Jewish cemetery and St. Vitus.

The loop closes again in Sögel, where the medieval mention as “Sugila” and its role as an administrative seat underscore the historical layers of the region.
