From Ripoll you walk the route in a clockwise direction. You start with the first kilometres of the Coll de Canes, and then turn onto the Camí de Llaers: a concrete path with two climbs: the Coll de Bevi and the ascent to Santa Maria de Besora (there is actually a short third climb to the village itself).  Between the 2 climbs, you can see the castle of Llaés perched on top of a hill. Please note: Concrete roads are sometimes bumpy, so descend carefully! You will then return to the paved roads and descend to Sant Quirze de Besora, in the valley of the river El Ter. Next, you go up to Alpens via the Collet de Comià. The descent takes us into the valley of the Merlès river and then we pedal along this river in an upstream direction along a concrete path in good condition (better than the Camí de Llaers). The river has a few rapids and waterfalls and is popular with locals for cooling off. Then you have to go down almost ten kilometres to Ripoll. The roads on this route are very quiet in terms of traffic.
