City walk Siena - Tuscany

Siena is world famous for its 'Palio' , a horse race that is held twice a year and lasts barely 75 seconds (3 laps on the Piazza del Campo).

The Piazzo del Campo is therefore one of the most famous squares in the world , especially now that it is also where the famous cycling race 'Strade Bianche' arrives.

Siena is no different from anywhere else in Tuscany: there are churches everywhere. We have already passed a few before we arrive at the gate 'Porta Tufi' . We pass the Palazzo Chigi-Saracini up to the Piazzo del Campo with its beautiful fountain 'Fonte Gaia'. A little further on is the tower 'Torre del Mangia'.

Continue to the Basilica di San Francesco and the Church of Sant Andrea until the cathedral ' Duomo di Siena' . It is well known for its floor consisting of 56 marble panels with images.

Throughout the city we also see the she-wolf suckling Romulus and Remus . This is the symbol of the city.

Please note that the walk has quite a few height differences . The center of Siena is on a hill, as is the Istrice district. Because the walk deviates from the center a number of times, we descend the hill a number of times.
