From Vianden you cycle on a cycle path (separate cycle path) to Bettel. You will have to follow the busier N10 for a kilometre and then take a country road that later descends to the N10. In Hoesdorf follow the N10 for 400 meters, then take the PC3 cycle path to Reisdorf.

Then it is almost 3.4 km to Beaufort, with beautiful views of the Sûre valley along the way. In Beaufort you will pass the large ruins of the castle, followed by a short climb. You descend into a stream valley and climb up to Haller. After Haller you descend into the valley of the Black Ernz, past some rock formations. You are now in Little Switzerland, in the Mullerthal. This part of Luxembourg is very touristy and can therefore be very busy on this road in high season. You will pass the Schiessentümpel waterfall, which you can see from the road. You cycle away from the valley of the Schwarze Ernz (Müllerthal) to Consdorf and cycle on a cycle path over an old railway line along several rock formations to Kalkesbach.

Then descend back into the Mullerthal and pass rock formations along the way, some with a view of the road. Finally, you reach the Sauer Valley and follow it on a cycle path along the busiest N10 for a distance of 2 km to Dillingen. There you change sides of the Sauer and arrive in Germany. You now follow the Sauer to the north, the road on this side of the Sauerdal is much quieter than on the Luxembourg side (N10). In Wallendorf, the Our flows into the Sûre, and you follow the valley of the Our to Vianden.

On the way you can eat just before or in Berdorf, or in Dillingen.

Note: In August 2021, several roads were closed due to construction or due to sections of road due to the heavy rains in July 2021, but in principle you can go anywhere on a road bike.
