Place Saint-Anne

The Sint Annaplein is mainly characterized by its diversity of shops, in addition to local retailers, many national parties (including Blokker, HEMA, Van Dal Herenmode and C1000) are located.

This square is still relatively young. Until 1950, the jansen family's arable land was located here. In the summer, grain was harvested here up to a few meters away from the village pump. You also have a beautiful view of the back of the town hall of Baarle-Nassau.

On the east side is now a large supermarket and a restaurant. This plot was also arable land of the Jansen family until about 1950. During the reconstruction after the war, a primary school was built here. Around 1970 the primary school was moved and a supermarket and brasserie De Groene Vlinder appeared here. The Dutch post office is also located in this building.

From the newspaper. On October 1, 2014, etching after 05:00, the police received a report that a robbery had been committed at Sint Annaplein. The ING ATM in the façade of Jumbo has been completely destroyed. Whether anything was captured is not known. Police say witnesses saw four men wearing balaclavas driving away in a black Audi. Because of the havoc and the police investigation, employees of the supermarket were not allowed to enter the building in the early morning and the store was open later than usual. Meanwhile, the investigation is still in full swing. A red and white ribbon is stretched around the ATM, the Jumbo supermarket is open again and the fair is being built across the street.
