Leeuwenburg is an estate and national monument on the Langbroekerwetering near Driebergen in the Dutch province of Utrecht. It is located on a long narrow plot between the Langbroekerdijk and the Gooijerdijk.
This country estate was built in 1657 by order of the Utrecht patrician Gerard Zoudenbalch. The moated block-shaped house was named Zoubalch and consisted of three floors. In 1667 the new owner Melchior Toussain named the house Leeuwenburg.
In 1761 it was expanded with several service buildings. After a split of the property in 1854, it was merged again by owner Pieter de Beaufort. The major renovation after the purchase almost amounted to rebuilding. The moat was virtually filled in.
The park consists (....) mainly of forest and meadows. At the rear of the house are ponds. On the right is the vegetable garden with standard orchard with a wooden pigeon tower from 1880. In the nineteenth century, part of the sleek garden was changed to landscape style.
