NATURE MONUMENTS ROOSENDAAL / RUCPHEN - If it is up to Natuurmonumenten, the Katteven and Snolleven in Roosendaal and the Rucphense ven Oude Zoek will be restored.

This can be read in the Nature Vision 2017-2035, which Natuurmonumenten has drawn up after consulting with other organizations. A policy vision for the long term, but full of concrete measures and plans, also for the short term. All with one ultimate goal: to develop and manage nature.

The thought of Natuurmonumenten is that a restored Katteven removes some pressure from the vulnerable Rozenven. For that reason, the organization would also like to see the back part of the Rozenvendreef 'taken out of public access for car traffic,' meaning closed off, so that the former estate Visdonk becomes a unit again.

“The Rozenvendreef would then be used by cyclists and walkers. This way, the nature around the Rozenven is better protected. Currently, there are regular disturbances of the pond and banks by people and loose dogs, which scare off nesting ducks or deer, for example.”
