Round trip from the 'nature gate' Vennenhorst to the remains (foundations) of the mansion of the Jewish family Elias (textile manufacturers from Eindhoven) who had their country house here before the war. On the way, you pass a number of (dug) pools, the largest of which, the Keelven, was formerly better known as the Gat van Roels, named after the mayor during whose term the excavation took place. Before the excavation was designated as a nature reserve, the Gat van Roels was an illegal swimming hole that the entire area made extensive use of.
