In the local history of Linköping Queen Christina is not very present. The annals mention a one-time-visit of the queen at the Linköping royal castle in 1647. Also her successor King Carl X Gustav is said to have visited the castle only once: in 1659. Yet, Christina's chronicler Gualdo Priorato urges she stayed a day in Linköping during her travel to the south after her abdication in 1654. Most probably she did not stay in an inn but at the domain of the royal family. The official plan was that she should travel from Linköping to Kalmar in the southeast of Sweden in order to cross to Wismar in North-Germany with the Swedish navy. But secretly she had the intention to travel to Helsingborg for a boat to Helsingør. So, here she changed her course and went to the southwest. Now the castle is a museum. At the right side the cathedral of Linköping from the 13th century with a tower added in the 19th century.
