When walking along the fortress, one realizes that it was meant to give a sense of invincibility to attackers standing before the impressive walls. The path winds along the slopes of the hill and leads to the place that was probably the hen yard in the past. We follow the Hoëgne which leads us to the town that is dominated in the west by its fortified church. It is an opportunity to discover the homogeneity of the center with its platform and its façades in Maas style. We return to Franchimont and cross the railway. A slope is ahead. The route passes through meadows where we use little ladders (to get over the hedges), which are typical of the nearby Land of Herve.
