Tour of the Liège Hills / Tour des Collines Liègeoises

The Tour of the Liège Hills is a 45 km long walking loop over the hilltops, spoil tips, and valley slopes of the Meuse and Ourthe that circle the city. The route is a remarkable sequence of urban landscapes, parks, nature, and industrial heritage. It offers some of the most beautiful panoramas in Belgium, not only of the city of Liège but even extending into the Netherlands and Germany. The route consists of three stages that each start and end at a train station.

Le Tour des Collines Liègeoises est une boucle de marche de 45 km sur les sommets, les terrils et les flancs des vallées de la Meuse et de l'Ourthe qui encerclent la ville. Le parcours est une séquence remarquable de paysages urbains, parcs, nature et patrimoine industriel. Il offre certains des plus beaux panoramas de Belgique, non seulement sur la ville de Liège, mais même jusqu'aux Pays-Bas et l'Allemagne. L'itinéraire se composait de trois étapes qui partent et se terminent dans une gare.

This second stage departs from the suburban station of Bressoux and ends at the Saint-Lambert station near the central Place Saint-Lambert. We climb the conical twin spoil tips of Bernalmont that offer an unparalleled panorama over the city of Liège. Further on, we pass over the Terril de Batterie Nouveau (244 meters!) and the Terril de Batterie Ancien. Via the pastoral Pré Fabry, we reach the Sentier des Coteaux, a path along the slope of the Meuse valley with extraordinary views over Liège, and thus circle around the Citadel. Along the beautiful stairs "Au Péri," we finally reach the small station of Saint Lambert.
