ABENOWANDELING - around the pond of Rotselaar!

Rotselaar is known for the Lake of Rotselaar and its green surroundings. With the Abenowalk, you embark on a short exploration around the lake. There is ample parking at Sportoase Ter Heide. About 300 meters after our start, we pass surf club De Winge. At the surf club, a path begins that goes around the lake. Here we discover the first piece of greenery. Once out of the woods, you have a beautiful view over the surf zone at the edge of the lake. This is also a nice spot for fishermen. We are about a kilometer into the walk. About 100 meters further along the route, there is an ideal picnic spot: a large covered hut with several picnic tables underneath. As we continue walking, we leave the lake. We go along the Torenstraat next to the skate park of Rotselaar and past the tower Donjon Ter Heyden, an iconic sight in the Hageland region. After the tower, some narrow paths lead us back to the lake, towards the end of the walk. This walk is very accessible and also particularly suitable for children due to the short distance (total number of kilometers to be mentioned?). At Sportoase Ter Heide, there is a playground 'Het Waterfort'. During the summer months, the Lake of Rotselaar is also open as a recreation area for swimming and sunbathing on the beach or the meadow.
