This trip starts at the Mattmark Stausee above Saas-Almagell and takes you along the lake to the Monte Moro Pass where you cross the Italian border. On the top is also a golden maria statue. This mountain pass was often used by smugglers in the past. On the Italian side is also a "rifugio" where you can eat/drink something. The return is along the same path but you can go along the other side of the lake. If you're condition is good, you can go on foot back to Saas-Almagell.
When i did this hike, there was still a lot of snow fields to pass through, making it a T3+ hike. Hiking time was 5,5h with a nominal speed of 5,6km/h
